The book finishes with composition ideas and how to add backgrounds, giving the reader the tools they need to create their own manga stories.

In contrast to most manga books, Draw Manga features fully illustrated step-by-step instructions for every stage of the projects, so even the most novice reader will know exactly when and where each line or detail should be added. There is also a wealth of tips and advice to help avoid common pitfalls and difficulties, based on the author's years of experience tutoring manga workshops.

Keroko James is a Japanese illustrator, graphic designer and manga tutor based in north London. Since 2017 she has run Froggy Manga, providing manga drawing classes for children. She has also worked with local authorities to deliver manga workshops in local libraries and youth groups and gives workshops as a part of children's parties.

She grew up loving manga and anime culture in the 1970s and 80s in Japan, which eventually led to her earning a BA in Fine Art. In 2008 she moved across the world to the UK, exhibiting at Hyper Japan and Comic Con. She also ran Manga Social Night, a monthly gathering of manga and anime fans, for seven years. Keroko loves to draw and enjoys promoting Japanese culture to anyone who is interested.
