Vedic Mathematics is a system of mental arithmetic rediscovered in the early twentieth century from a set of sixteen short Sanskrit aphorisms the sutras. Once you learn them, the standard school methods will feel slow and clumsy by comparison.

This book is an invitation, written for the complete beginner. Thirty-two chapters take you from squaring numbers ending in 5 (in under a second) to multiplying any two two-digit numbers in a single line, to dividing without long division, to finding square roots and cube roots by inspection.
