This book presents information about the use of technology to support the prevention and management of drug safety issues: pharmacovigilance (PV), medication errors, drug-related problems (DRPs), counterfeit medicines and other drug safety issues. Adapting new technologies/information technologies, mobile technologies and social media has contributed effectively to safety practices for medications, with this book providing comprehensive information as a guide to its challenges and potential.

Technology for Drug Safety provides practicing and trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy educators, researchers, public health policy makers, healthcare professionals and medical educators with vital information about the impact of technology on drug safety-related issues. It describes the current status of the practice, the challenges in the field and recommendations for the effective use of technology in drug safety practice including clinical trials and drug development, PV, detection of adverse drug reactions, reporting and management, medication errors detection, reporting and management, DRPs, counterfeit and substandard medications, and other safety issues.

Prof. Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at College of Pharmacy, University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, UAE (Previously known as Ajman University) andAzal University for Human Development, Yemen. . He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) from Sana'a University, Yemen and obtained Master and PhD degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. He has more than 20 years' experiences in education, practice and research in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. He has held various academic and professional positions including: Head of Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice department; Head of Teaching & learning committee, Head of Training committee and other committees. Prof. Yaser has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, more than 300 book chapters and edited more than 15 books. Prof.Yaser has supervised/co-supervised many PhD, Master, PharmD and B-Pharmstudents. He is a reviewer for eight recognized International peer-reviewed journals. Prof. Yaser prepared and wrote the first draft of Master of Clinical pharmacy program and PharmD internship manual and has been a member of the founding committee of the integrated PharmD curriculum at Unizah College of Pharmacy.
