Typhoid is widely prevalent all over the world but more so in developing countries. S.N. Khosla, MD, MAMS, FIAMS, is an internationally renowned authority on typhoid fever. He has published about 250 research papers in international and national medical journals of repute. Out of these, more than 50 research papers are on the various aspects of typhoid fever. His work is cited in standard textbooks of Medicine and included in monographs on typhoid. He was chairman of workshop on typhoid fever at International Congress of Tropical Medicine and Malaria at Calgary (Canada) and a guest speaker at Congress on Tropical Medicine at Bali Island (Indonesia) as well. He has also presented his work on typhoid at Tropical Medicine Congress at Amsterdam, Boston and various conferences in India, where he has chaired scientific sessions. Dr Khosla has devoted his entire career to teaching and research in medicine and has held senior faculty positions in various medical institutes of northern India. He is recipient of Indian Council of Medical Research Award in Medicine for his work on typhoid fever and IMA Academy of Medical Specialities Award for academic excellence. He has also been honoured by IMA for Lifetime Achievement and Best Research Worker Award.
