L'asthme est une maladie inflammatoire chronique des voies a�riennes caract�ris�e par une hyperr�activit� bronchique et des �pisodes r�cidivants de dyspn�e, sifflements, oppression thoracique et toux, souvent nocturnes ou au petit matin. Sur le plan physiopathologique, il associe une inflammation bronchique impliquant mastocytes, �osinophiles et lymphocytes T, des �pisodes de bronchoconstriction entra�nant une diminution du calibre des voies a�riennes, un oed�me muqueux et une hypers�cr�tion de mucus. Les �tiologies sont vari�es: terrain allergique, facteurs g�n�tiques, infections respiratoires, tabac, polluants et m�dicaments. Cliniquement, l'asthme se manifeste par des crises de dyspn�e expiratoire, sifflements audibles, oppression thoracique et toux. L'exploration paraclinique repose sur la spirom�trie, qui montre un trouble ventilatoire obstructif r�versible apr�s bronchodilatateurs, parfois associ� � une hyper�osinophilie sanguine ou une �l�vation de l'IgE. La prise en charge th�rapeutique inclut les bronchodilatateurs (β2-mim�tiques), les cortico�des inhal�s (traitement de fond), l'�ducation th�rapeutique et la prise en charge des facteurs d�clenchants. Les exacerbations repr�sentent des �pisodes aigus o� l'aggravation des sympt�mes n�cessite une adaptation th�rapeutique rapide, parfois l'hospitalisation. Une approche globale et personnalis�e demeure essentielle pour optimiser le contr�le des sympt�mes et la qualit� de vie des patients asthmatiques.
