SAMHITA CHAUDHURI is Associate Professor of Geography at the Bijoy Krishna Girls' College, Howrah, West Bengal. Her research interests are Cultural Geography, Population Geography, Urban and Regional Planning, and Women's Studies. She is Gold medalist in Geography at the PG level and has obtained her Doctoral degree from the University of North Bengal, India. Her present research is based on various socio-cultural aspects of India. She was the visiting scholar at Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand during March 2020 under the ICSSR–NRCT India–Thailand Bilateral Program, 2019–2020. Her recent publications are edited volumes on (i) Resource Management: Human and Natural, (ii) Gender Roles and Caste Effects in Indian Social Set-up, (iii) District Profile of Darjeeling and (iv) Cultural Geography and a book on Festivals: A New Avenue for India–Thailand Cultural Linkage. She is the author of 40 journal articles and book chapters. Aslo, she has presented papers in various National and International Conferences. Recently, she has completed a project on 'The District of Howrah: Exploration of Selected Cultural Traits' in collaboration with Institute of Historical Studies, Kolkata.
