Kfinftige Gesundheitspolitik muB und wird mehr und anders als Standespolitik der Heilberufe sein mussen; sie wird medizinische Orientierungsdaten und inhalt1iche Prioritaten zu ihren wichtigsten Gestaltungselementen machen mussen, wobei einer ganzheitliehen Sieht von Gesundheitsproblemen und gesundheitliehen Versorgungsstrukturen eine besondere Bedeutung zukommt. Wir brauchen verbesserte Plattformen ffir den regelmaBigen gesundheitspolitischen Dialog im Grundsatz und in Einzelfragen. Bei der Erfullung derartiger, uber medizinische Fragen im engeren Sinne weit hinausreichender Aufgaben und Zielsetzungen spielt die QualifIkation der Mitarbeiter eine entscheidende Rolle. Medizinisch-therapeutisches, epidemiologisches, wirtschafts- und sozialwissenschaftliches, juristisches oder neuderdings auch informationswissenschaftliches Spezialwissen allein ist in der Regel zu wenig. Wir brauchen in der Gesundheitspolitik auf den verschiedenen Ebenen (Bund, Lander und Kommunen) und bei den verschiedenen handelnden und Verantwortung tragenden Institutionen (Staat, Selbstverwaltungskorperschaften, freie Trager) immer Mufiger den "Spezialisten fUr den Blick auf das Generelle." Ffir diese "Generalisten" fehlte bisher eine auf die VerMltnisse in der Bundesrepublik zugeschnittene gesundheitswissenschaftliehe Hochschulausbildung, die dazu befahigt, auf der Grundlage medizinisch-technischer Basisausbildung gesundheitspolitische Probleme zu erkennen und zu lOsen. Diese seit langerem uberfallige Ausbildung bietet die Universitat Bielefeld mit dem Studiengang "Gesundheitswissenschaften und offentliche GesundheitsfOrderung" nunmehr an. Er solI eine Zusatzausbildung fUr Berufsgruppen sein, die im Gesundheitswesen planend und gestaltend verantwortlich rntig werden konnen. Leitbild dieses Studienganges ist der im angloamerikanischen Raum gepragte Begriff "Public Health."
