Growing up in a poor neighborhood, I faced challenges that many would find unimaginable. My childhood was plagued by abuse, both physical and emotional, leaving scars that would take years to heal. Writing lifted me, allowing me to escape the chaos and create a world where I had control. As I grew older, that passion for writing became intertwined with my desire to help others. I realized that my journey didn't end with my personal healing; it could lead me to a profession where I could make a difference in the lives of others. Now, I'm on my way to college to study psychology. My goal is to work with those who, like me, have faced overwhelming struggles. I want to give them the support and understanding that I yearned for during my toughest days. The road ahead won't always be easy, but I carry with me the strength that comes from surviving my past. I believe that by combining my love for poetry with my education in psychology, I can help others find their voices and healing. I'm excited for this next chapter in my life, where I'll learn not only about the human mind but also how to ignite hope in those who feel lost, just as I once did.

Holley, Cherish M.: - Growing up in the inner city, I faced challenges that many would find difficult to comprehend. I experienced a traumatic childhood that taught me to navigate a world filled with both beauty and chaos. Among the most painful moments was the loss of my best friend. That experience left a profound impact on me, shaping my views on life, love, and loss. In search of solace and understanding, I turned to writing. Poetry became my refuge, a way to articulate the emotions I struggled to process. Each poem was a step toward healing, a therapeutic tool that allowed me to confront my past and embrace my future. Putting pen to paper was not merely about crafting verses; it was about reclaiming my inner self and finding the strength to rise above my circumstances. This poetry book is more than just a collection of words; it reflects my journey through grief, healing, and the hope that comes with it. With every stanza, I peeled back layers of pain and vulnerability, sharing my story in the hopes of resonating with others who may have faced similar struggles. Writing this book was both healing and empowering. It enabled me to transform my darkest moments into something beautiful and meaningful. I hope that by sharing my journey through poetry, I can inspire others to find their voice and use it as a means of healing.
