About The Book

In a world plunged into chaos by an electromagnetic blackout, sixteen-year-old Scott Talon leads a group of teens on a perilous journey to a church camp. As they build a safe haven, they face threats from desperate survivors and a rising extremist movement.

Scott and his friends, including his younger brother Mathew and best friends Emily and Lucas, embark on a treacherous trek from Williston to the mountains of Montana. Their goal is to reach a church camp where they spent summers, seeking refuge from the dangers that now plague their world. As they navigate through the chaos, they encounter desperate individuals willing to do anything for survival.

Upon reaching the abandoned campground near Helena, Scott's leadership shines as he organizes the group to fortify their new home. They construct walls, establish gardens, and create escape tunnels, all while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst the turmoil. However, the tranquility is short-lived as explosions from Helena signal the growing unrest.

The group soon finds themselves targeted by the emerging Patriot Nationalists movement, who threaten their fragile sanctuary. Tensions rise as the campground becomes a focal point in the escalating conflict. As chaos reigns, the bonds of friendship are tested. Power: Blackout is a gripping tale of resilience, leadership, and the struggle to find hope in a world turned upside down.

About The Author

Ackman, Tyrel: - Tyrel Ackman is a dedicated educator and passionate runner based in Williston, North Dakota. He teaches at Williston High School and coaches cross country and distance track at Williston State College. Originally from Wisconsin, Tyrel's family relocated to North Dakota, where he contributed to the Boys Cross Country team's Class A State Title victory in 2018. He pursued his education at Williston State College during the COVID-19 pandemic before transferring to Dickinson State University, where he is currently working towards a master's in athletic leadership and administration. Outside of teaching and coaching, Tyrel enjoys running marathons and half marathons.
