About The Book

Management Education: Relevance in the 21st Century explores a crucial issue facing our nation. The liberalization of the Indian economy created a new set of professional responsibilities that traditional education could not address. Thus emerged the "professional stream", which offered students assured career growth prospects and social mobility. But what has been its practical impact? Have these courses met consumers' expectations? Are they regularly updated in keeping with socio-economic scenarios? Do they help students understand and respond to critical issues facing the economy? Drawing on a study conducted among management students from Prayagraj, this book seeks to answer these questions. It provides scholars, teachers and planners with the insights to reevaluate the efficacy of the "professional stream" and develop interventions to meet the world's demands.

About The Author

Dr. S. K. Pant did his Ph.D. from the University of Roorkee in 1983. He is Professor of Economics at G. B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad and has worked there for over three decades. He has written many research papers for reputed journals and has undertaken projects for prestigious organisations, like the Planning Commission in New Delhi and the New Delhi Directorate of Adult Education, NCERT. His published books include Gender Bias in Girl Child Education (2002), Social Inclusion and Empowerment through Education (2019) and Statistics and its Application in Social Science Research (2020).

Dr. Rukmani Devi did her Ph.D. in Economics from G. B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad. Currently working as Senior Research Associate at Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow, she has published several research papers in reputed journals and presented them in national and international seminars. She co-edited a book titled Social Inclusion and Empowerment through Education (2019). Her research interests include the Economics of Education, Economic Development and Economic Policy Analysis.
