Egal ob Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop oder sanfter Popgesang - unabh ngig vom Sender h rt man gleicherma en M nner und Frauen in h chsten Registern oder mit teils stark verfremdeten Stimmen singen. Bei manchen K nstlern l sst sich das Geschlecht weder u erlich, noch vom Klang der Stimme eindeutig bestimmen, manche widersprechen den konventionellen Zuschreibungen auf die eine oder andere Art v llig. Wieder andere - oder auch dieselben - S ngerinnen und S nger betonen ganz gezielt ihr eigenes Geschlecht und sind auf CD-Covers und in Musik-Videos vorwiegend in sexuell konnotierten Posen und Kleidungsst cken zu sehen. So vielschichtig und vielseitig all diese Ph nomene auch geartet sein m gen, festzuhalten bleibt, dass Musik und Geschlecht in der Pop-Welt nicht zu trennen sind. Ebenso wenig kann man die urspr nglich rein musikalische Szene heutzutage noch losgel st von Vermarktung, Au enbild und medialer Pr senz der S nger betrachten. Popmusik ist also keine rein akustische Erscheinung. Deshalb lohnt sich ber den Blick auf Gesangstechniken und Stimmenverfremdungsmechanismen hinaus auch der Blick auf Aussehen, ffentliches Auftreten und Selbstverst ndnis der zu Kultfiguren stilisierten Prominenten. Dabei ist eine Dominanz von androgynen K nstlern und dem Einsatz von Techniken zum Verstellen von Stimme deutlich festzustellen. Doch was f r Ursachen und welche Bedeutung hat dieses Ph nomen und wie k nnte es sich weiter entwickeln? Diesen Fragen nachzugehen, soll Schwerpunkt dieser Auseinandersetzung sein.
