Gewässerschutz in Deutschland wurde und wird weitgehend technik-bezogen betrieben. Dagegen orientiert sich die dänische Praxis seit langem an standorttypischen Organismen, wie z.B. der Forelle mit ihren Ansprüchen an den Lebensraum Bach. Dieses wird sowohl bei Zielsetzungen wie bei Soll-/Ist-Vergleichen eingesetzt. Anstelle theoriebeladener Ansätze steht die eher spielerische Herangehensweise, die lebendige Lebensräume erfolgreich reaktiviert. Das Buch vermittelt die dabei über Jahrzehnte gewonnenen Erkenntnisse, angepasst an deutsche Verhältnisse. 2022 ff.: Wir befinden uns inzwischen im letzten (?) Verlängerungszeitraum der Wasserrahmenrichtlinie. Die Gewässerlebensräume in Deutschland wurden nicht hinreichend verbessert, ihre mögliche Artenvielfalt und Individuendichte nicht annähernd erreicht. Insofern stellt das im Jahr 2000 aufgelegte Werk von Madsen & Tent weiter eine wesentliche praxisbezogene Grundlage für das Handeln Offizieller in Verwaltungen und Wasser- / Gewässerpflegeverbänden sowie von Laien (z.B. Bachpatenschaften) dar.

Geboren 1950 in Korbach / Waldeck. Tostedt, der inzwischen langjährige Wohnort meiner Familie liegt auf dem Dach der Welt zwischen Elbe und Weser - ok, es ist nur ein Flachdach hier im Norddeutschen Tiefland. Als Gewässerbiologe und "bekennender Angler" finde ich es um so wichtiger, die hiesigen landschaftlichen Perlen, z.B. das umfangreiche Bachsystem wieder mit anderen Menschen zu seinen einst reichen Potentialen hin zu entwickeln. Namen wie Perlbach, Steinbach, Fischbek weisen noch heute darauf hin, wie die Ziele aussehen: Naturschutz und Naturnutzung lassen sich verbinden - und verbinden auch Naturschützer und -nutzer! Gute Praxis von anderswo anzuwenden, statt immer das Rad neu zu erfinden und alle möglichen Fehler unnötig zu wiederholen, lässt mich schreiben, schreiben . . ., z.B. bei BoD.
