The overarching theme of the book is that it is not too late for the African American family but we must "renew our mind and become stewards of our homes again before it becomes too late." McGrew, Johnny: - Johnny McGrew was born in Pennington Alabama and raised in Anchorage Alaska. As a son of a United States Air Force veteran he has traveled throughout the 50 States. Johnny has a passion of coaching and mentoring African-American youths who have had contact with the criminal justice system. Johnny was a therapeutic foster parent for over 10 years. Johnny has over 8 years of law enforcement experience. During his tenure in law enforcement his goal was to educate paroles/probationers, so that they would be afforded the best opportunity to be successful while on community supervision. Johnny's is driven to improve his community by educating and informing his community to the pitfalls of worldly entrapments.
