Don Juan is a wealthy Mexican landowner who falls in love with an American woman named Alice, but their relationship is complicated by the political turmoil caused by the French invasion and the imposition of Maximilian as Emperor of Mexico. Don Juan becomes involved in the resistance movement against Maximilian and the French, and his loyalty to his country and his love for Alice are put to the test. The novel is a blend of romance, adventure, and historical fiction, and provides a vivid portrayal of the political and social climate of Mexico during this turbulent period.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
