Denn Platons Philosophie hat Ma stäbe gesetzt, die über die Jahrhunderte bis heute das Forschen und Denken bestimmen sollten." Platon war ein gro er Denker der Antike, dessen Werke bereits unzählige Male untersucht und erforscht wurden. Insbesondere seine Ideenlehre weckte oftmals das Interesse verschiedener Philosophen. Dementsprechend gro ist auch die Auswahl an Sekundärliteratur zu seinen Werken. Diese Ideenlehre wird auch der Hauptuntersuchungsgegenstand dieser Arbeit sein. Jedoch wird sie nicht auf den Idealstaat eingehen, den Platon in der Politeia mithilfe der Ideenlehre begründet, sondern sich denn erkenntnistheoretischen Aspekten widmen. Dafür eignet sich insbesondere das bekannte Höhlengleichnis von Platon und der Dialog Menon, die im Folgenden textanalytisch untersucht werden. Zuvor jedoch wird es einen kurzen Überblick über die Ideenlehre geben, der notwendig ist, um jegliche Zusammenhänge zu verstehen. In der Antike konzentrierte man sich eigentlich auf metaphysische Probleme der Philosophie. Auch Platon wurde oft so interpretiert. So schreibt Diogenes Laertius über Platons Philosophie: "Das Endziel sei die Verähnlichung mit Gott." Obwohl die Erkenntnistheorie in der Antike nicht das hauptsächliche Thema war, lohnt es sich Platons Werke auf erkenntnistheoretische Anzeichen zu untersuchen. Inwiefern es eine Erkenntnistheorie Platons gibt und ob die jeweiligen Begründungen in sich schlüssig sind, wird ausgiebig zu untersuchen sein.
