"This collection of my diary is unlikely to make it past censorship... Tomorrow I will leave Vietnam." This is how Thich Nhat Hanh begins his entry on May 11, 1966. He was forced into exile from his country for asking for peace and could not return until 2004. During that time, he continued to teach in Europe and the United States, becoming one of the most respected spiritual leaders in the world. As he wrote this notebook, however, his fame was yet to come. Fragantes hojas de palmerashows a vulnerable and startlingly lucid young man who longs for his home and reflects on the difficulties that his community had to face in Vietnam.
