Questo rivoluzionario pensiero, incentrato sulla necessità di ridefinire l'identità della donna a prescindere da secoli di cultura maschile, ha forti ripercussioni (anche quando indirette) sulle ricerche di molte fotografe e artiste che ricorrono alla fotografia come mezzo ideale per condurre una riflessione identitaria o per testimoniare la condizione della donna, restituendone un racconto inedito, operando con una nuova consapevolezza del proprio fare e del proprio ruolo. Nel 2020, l'anno che il Comune di Milano ha dedicato a "I talenti delle donne", il Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea di Cinisello Balsamo ha organizzato una giornata di studio curata da Cristina Casero e introdotta da Giovanna Calvenzi, seguita da un dibattito animato da alcune delle protagoniste degli anni Settanta in dialogo con autrici più giovani.
