Teshima is one of the 28 islands of the Shiwaku Islands in Japan. In former times the island has been famous for its navy, and the island's shipbuilding and ship handling skills were valued and played a major role in maritime distribution.
Today, there are only a dozen or so islanders living on Teshima. The terraced fields that once covered the mountains have been swallowed up by bamboo forest, including the stone walls that had been left. The island's last fisherman passed away at the end of last year, and his fishing boat remains tied up in the harbor, swaying in the waves. Listening to the island's quiet sleep without disturbing it will lead us to face the present situation of Japan as an island nation.
Kentaro Kumon (b. 1981) is active in a wide range of fields, including magazines, books, and advertising. In 2012, he was awarded the Photographic Society of Japan's Newcomer's Award.

Harder, Matthias: - Dr. Matthias Harder (b.1965), studied art history, classical archaeology and philosophy. He is a member of the German Society for Photography as well as a board member of the European Month of Photography. Since 2004 he has worked as a senior curator at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin; he also publishes regularly in international art journals such as Art in America, Aperture, Foam, Eikon or Photonews, and publishes articles in books and exhibition catalogs.

Kumon, Kentaro: - Kentaro Kumon (b. 1981) is active in a wide range of fields, including magazines, books, and advertising. In 2012, he was awarded the Photographic Society of Japan's Newcomer's Award.

Prüst, Marc: - Marc Prüst (b. 1975) is active as visual story editor and photography curator. He has developed a method for creating photographic projects to help photographers develop their concepts, prepare the shoots and edit their work. Together with photographers he produces their visual stories in a variety of formats: books, exhibitions, or other project. He also teaches and organizes workshops and masterclasses, lecture and writes on photography. Prior to working as a freelancer, he organized and installed exhibitions all over the world for the World Press Photo Foundation from 2001 to 2007.
