This is a book of manipulated Polaroid SX-70 images of Santa Cruz created by Portia Shao. Time-zero is the film used in the Polaroid SX-70 instant camera which can be manipulated using a pointed object while the emulsion is still wet. The resulting images have a painterly look, and each one is unique. Portia Shao created these images in and around Santa Cruz, including downtown, along Pacific avenue, and the Boardwalk.

Portia Shao is a photographer and artist who loves to create unique and beautiful images. She combines watercolor and photography using the Polaroid SX-70 manipulation techniques for this book of unique images. Portia is a Certified Professional Photographer and a member of the Professional Photographers of America. She owns and operates her portrait studio Positive Vista Photography & Art in Santa Cruz, California. She loves animals, and is the volunteer photographer for the Santa Cruz SPCA. She loves to travel, and has at least one camera with her everywhere she goes.
