Autor de una amplia obra poética y de trabajos sobre sus áreas de especialista, dentro de las cuales están la resiliencia y el crecimiento postraumático. "Leer poesía teológica supone asumir algunos compromisos. En un período nihilista en cuanto a las capacidades de la razón poética, la poesía teo-lógica nos propone una novedad radical: asumirnos como "cañas agitadas por el viento", pero también como "cañas pensantes" (B. Pascal). Este modo es el único por el cual tanto la negación de la existencia de Dios (ateísmo), la posibilidad de su reflexión relativa (agnosticismo) o la certeza probada de su existencia (el teísmo: la peor de las idolatrías, según A. Gesché), no alienan al ser humano del deber de padecer a Dios como problema. Pues, a fin de cuentas, que Dios se vuelva provocación es la tarea fundamental de la poesía teológica. No en vano J. Moingt y J. B. Metz se muestran cautelosos ante la "vuelta de lo religioso", señalando que ello no implica el regreso del Dios de Jesucristo. Por tanto, la lógica poética no es una cualquiera, sino la lógica divina: sólo así es teo-logía. La poesía de Cruz-Villalobos no sólo habla de Dios, sino que intenta hablar bien de Dios. O lo que es lo mismo, es una poesía que habla mal del dios falsificado, deformado a la imagen y semejanza del ídolo." (Jonatán Rodríguez Amengual, del Prólogo de esta edición). John D.
