The series of sonnets, In the Shadows, was composed during the latter part of his illness. Many of his poems bear traces of immaturity, and echoes the words of the great poets of his time, but they do possess distinct individuality, and show a real appreciation of natural beauty.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
