First published in 1813, "The Giaour" is a poem by Lord Byron originally published in 1813. It was the first in the series of his Oriental romances and enjoyed great success when published, arguably solidifying his reputation both commercially and critically. George Gordon Byron (1788 - 1824), more commonly known as Lord Byron, was a British peer, poet, politician, and leading figure in the Romantic movement. He is widely considered as one of the greatest British poets and is widely read to this day. His most notable works include the narrative poems "Don Juan" and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage". "The Giaour" is highly recommended for lovers of English Romantic poetry and constitutes a must-read for fans and lovers of Byron's seminal work.
