The King's Quair is a poem written by James I, the King of Scots, in the 15th century. It is a romantic poem that tells the story of the king's love for a woman he sees in a dream. The poem is written in Middle Scots and is considered one of the finest examples of medieval Scottish literature.The King's Quair begins with the king, who is imprisoned in a tower, looking out of his window and seeing a beautiful woman. He falls in love with her instantly and begins to write poetry about her. One night, he has a dream in which he is taken to a beautiful garden where he meets the woman from his window. They fall in love and spend the night together.The next morning, the king wakes up and realizes that it was only a dream. He is heartbroken and spends the next few days in despair. However, he eventually comes to the realization that the dream was a sign from God and that he must pursue his love for the woman. He sets out on a journey to find her, and after many trials and tribulations, he finally finds her and they are reunited.The King's Quair is a beautiful and complex poem that explores themes of love, fate, and the power of dreams.
