"Debe de haber sido en 1981 o 1982, durante mi primer viaje de retorno a Chile desde el exilio, que me rencontr� con Alfonso Calder�n. Fue en ese entonces que me entreg� este poemario titulado Toque de queda, que con el seud�nimo de Enrique Rivas quer�a que se publicara fuera del pa�s. Me fui a Canad� en 1974 y era la primera vez que nos ve�amos desde los d�as posteriores al Golpe. Recuerdo que en esos a�os Alfonso todav�a era profesor de la Universidad Cat�lica, pero no sab�a por cu�nto tiempo. Pocas semanas despu�s le rescindieron su contrato y creo que su historia fue la de muchos acad�micos sacados de sus instituciones en esos aciagos d�as. De vuelta a Canad�, en esos a�os todav�a dictatoriales, decidimos intentar su publicaci�n, pero demoras en conseguir los fondos y la natural dispersi�n del exilio lo impidieron y permaneci� in�dito hasta ahora. Esta edici�n le hace justicia a un conjunto de poemas de un autor, que deber�a estar alineado junto a otros, que dieron cuenta de la represi�n oprobiosa de la dictadura en esos d�as oscuros". As� revela el poeta Na�n N�mez en el pr�logo el origen de este libro perdido que ahora se rescata. Su hija Teresa Calder�n desconoc�a absolutamente la existencia de los versos. Na�n decide mand�rselos en abril de 2023. "Se trataba de una serie de poemas breves, escritos a m�quina y ordenados en p�ginas peque�as, bajo el t�tulo Toque de queda. Los tom� con un temblor de infinito entre las manos. Comenc� a leer mientras mi mente se reacomodaba en el pasado de mis 17 a�os y pude unir lo que yo ve�a de mi padre en su cara, sus gestos, su tristeza, con lo que �l en secreto sent�a y pensaba. Eso me lo revelaron sus poemas. Nada es casual, este libro llegaba medio siglo despu�s, en la conmemoraci�n de los 50 a�os del Golpe y escrito durante el toque de queda que anunciaba lo que se nos vendr�a despu�s."
