Über einer Million Hungertoten - "ohne, dass es eine Naturkatastrophe, einen Krieg oder eine gravierende politische Krise gegeben hätte", steht eine der grö ten Armeen der Welt und ein undurchsichtiges Atomprogramm gegenüber. Gleichzeitig wird das Bild einer heilen Welt vermittelt, huldigen Staat und Einwohner dem "Gro en Führer" Kim Il Sung (verstorben 1994) und seinem Sohn, dem "Geliebten Führer" Kim Jong Il, wie Gottheiten. Schrill sind die Aufmärsche, bis zu 20 Meter hoch die Statuen, beängstigend präzise die Massengymnastik. Die Demokratische Volksrepublik scheint aus Zeit und Raum gefallen zu sein. Ein toter Präsident, einzigartig in der Weltgeschichte, und sein prunksüchtiger, machtbesessener Sohn stehen über einem Volk von knapp 20 Millionen Menschen. Wie funktioniert die einzige kommunistische Dynastie? Auf welcher Grundlage basiert sie? Viele Fragen stellen sich, bei der Betrachtung Nordkoreas. "Eine verlässliche Geschichte Nordkoreas wird erst dann zu schreiben sein, wenn die Archive dieses Staates, der dem alten Korea-Klischee der "Einsiedler-Nation" heute alle Ehre macht, der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht werden." Jahrelang nach Befreiung aus der schrecklichen Kolonialherrschaft Japans strebend, gab dieser "Kampf" dem koreanischen Nationalismus neuen Nährboden. Der Weg aus dieser Herrschaft bis zur Teilung in zwei unterschiedliche Staaten wird in dieser Arbeit aufgezeigt. Des Weiteren soll diese Arbeit den Weg Nordkoreas ausgehend, von der Chuch e Ideologie, aufzeigen.
