Give Me Liberty is a historical novel written by Rose Wilder Lane. The book is set in the late 1700s and early 1800s in America, during the time of the American Revolution and the early years of the United States. The story follows the life of a young woman named Libertie, who is determined to live a life of freedom and independence. Libertie comes from a wealthy family in New York City, but she is not content with the traditional roles and expectations placed upon women in her society. She longs to explore the world, to learn and grow, and to make a difference in the world.As the American Revolution begins, Libertie becomes involved in the fight for independence. She joins the Sons of Liberty and becomes a spy, gathering information and helping to plan attacks against the British. Along the way, she falls in love with a young soldier named Andrew, but their relationship is complicated by their different backgrounds and the dangers of war.As the war comes to an end and the United States is born, Libertie continues to fight for her own independence. She travels to Europe, where she meets other women who are also struggling for their rights and freedoms. She becomes involved in the feminist movement and works to promote education and equality for women.Throughout the book, Lane weaves together historical events and figures with the fictional story of Libertie. The book is a powerful exploration of the struggle for freedom and independence, both on a personal level and on a larger societal scale.
