The relationship between M.K. Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar has been analyzed by most commentators and critics based on the political thought and ways of working of these two great men of India and how they dealt with the issues that arose in their times. Majority of such critics dwell upon the empirically external dimensions of these historical personages manifest in their writings and recorded political activities. In judging their relationship, many critics, using the figment of their imagination, have presented them as against each other, in utter disregard of a number of similarities in their thinking and pursuits, and of the fact that differences, if any, stemmed from their respective world view to which they were deeply committed and which they articulated in their thinking and action, as reflected in the then prevalent question of the social-political conditions of people in general and the untouchables in particular. The book presents before the readers the thoughts, views, and feelings of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar in a subjective manner and being dispassionate about the controversies in their relationship. The relevant and important material is provided to the readers without the imposition of particular ideas on them. Both sides of the issues dealt with have been brought before the readers so that they may form their own opinion. The book will serve as a window to the discerning reader, not just to the life of Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar, but also to the most important pre- and post-Independence history of India which changed the whole complexion of Indian subcontinent. The book provides valuable and authentic information as well as correct and unbiased history to the readers. It will create fresh awareness among them about a very significant period of India’s history and help them form their own opinion about important people and their ideologies and actions. It exhorts readers to forget about the controversies surrounding the two great leaders of those times and instead focus on their sterling qualities.
