Biswaranjan Mohanty did his M.Phil. and Ph.D. from the Centre for the Study of Political Science, School of Social Sciences (II), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His research topic was “Problems of Displacement and Rehabilitation of Tribals: A Case Study of Upper Kolab River Dam Project of Orissa.” He has also qualified the JRF at the NET Examination of the UGC.
Dr. Mohanty has the experience of working on several projects related to education and children. He has presented papers at national seminars and conferences. He has to his credit several papers published in journals of repute. He has authored many books. Presently he is working as an Associate Fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, Women Division, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. His areas of interest include: education, social development, child-related issues, gender inequality, decentralization, Panchayati Raj Institutions, rehabilitation and resettlement, governance and South Asian Cooperation and international relations.
