This book is the combination of "Road Less Traveled; Journey from There Back to Here; and, Exploration of Inner Space," with contextual and format differences. Depending on the intent as to how the material in this three-part book is to be used (personal reading and enjoyment; individual or group psychotherapy; wanting attention to be drawn exclusively to a single part of the book beyond the distraction of the other two parts). The choice is yours as to whether you choose all three parts under one cover or an exclusive book dedicated to each of the three parts.
NEW THOUGHT EDITION. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the capacity to experience and express one's emotions appropriately, in addition to handling interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. It includes the understanding that emotions drive behavior and impact each individual positively or negatively. Emotional intelligence is related more to what is presently happening, in that it is used to identify and manage emotions in the moment. Research shows convincingly that Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is more decisive than Intelligence Quotient (IQ) on many levels; for example, some studies report that it is five times more likely than IQ to predict success. It's debatable if IQ is inherently fixed and unchangeable, but EQ is unequivocally viewed as a fluid set of skills that can be greatly improved through increased awareness and commitment to change. Improving your EQ Score is an arbitrary number that is achieved through personalized reasoning, both objective and subjective-there is no standardized score to go by. It doesn't matter what your baseline is gauged to be (High, Medium, or Low) as you open the book to commence reading. The important thing to know is that at the final written word, unprejudiced progress was made in mastering the content. If you truthfully attest to having consciously integrated the material, then your EQ Score has taken a quantum leap. Each chapter concludes with Points to Ponder (PTP), which helps the reader to internalize the life-changing content under discussion. PTP include unique observations, followed by suggested applications, and a personal affirmation that reinforces the topic under discussion. Key topics covered in this book are: (1) past mistakes (moving from past tense to present tense); (2) approval addiction (be what you want to be; not what others want to see); (3) changes during the life cycle (change is an "inside job"); (4) shattered dreams (unexpected path to dream fulfillment); (5) resistance to "what is;" (6) false self-beliefs (do you believe your own beliefs?); (7) thought reconstruction (thinking errors); (8) synchronicity (whispers from beyond); (9) heart versus head; (10) imagination (preview of life's coming attractions); (11) quantum physics (encounter with the phenomenal); (12) fear (embracing the lions' roar); (13) anger (adjusting the flame); (14) worry (be still and know); (15) bitterness (cleansing a toxin of the soul); (16) resentment (redirecting the persistence of ill-will); (17) envy (harnessing the green-eyed monster); (18) forgiveness (warming the heart while cooling the sting).
