Der Begriff der Neurose ist �ber 200 Jahre alt, doch erst seit rund 100 Jahren versteht man darunter eine seelische bzw. psychosozial bedingte Gesundheitsst�rung ohne nachweisbare k�rperliche Grundlage. Im Pschyrembel werden als heute haupts�chliche Neuroseformen die depressive Neurose, die Konversionsneurose, die Zwangsneurose, die Charakterneurose und die Angstneurose genannt. Bereits hier zeigt sich, wie schwierig es ist, den �berblick zu behalten und die verschiedenen Krankheitstypen der Neurose zu ordnen. Einer der ersten, der die Angst als zugrundeliegendes Problem erkannt hat, war Sigmund Freud. Von ihm stammt der Begriff der Angstneurose und er erkannte die Unspezifit�t der zugeordneten Symptome. Angstst�rungen werden auch als Angstneurose bezeichnet und sind durch eine �berm� ige �ngstliche Unruhe gekennzeichnet, die sich bis hin zur Panik steigern kann. Das Verhalten und die Pers�nlichkeit des Betroffenen k�nnen zwar beeintr�chtigt sein, bleiben aber meist innerhalb sozial akzeptierter Grenzen. Das neurotische Beschwerdebild ist Folge oder gar symbolischer Ausdruck des krankmachenden seelischen Konflikts, der aber unbewusst bleibt. Die Angstneurose umfasst nach dem heutigen Stand eine gr� ere Gruppe von psychischen St�rungen, zu denen generalisierte Angstst�rungen, Panikst�rungen mit bzw. ohne Agoraphobie, Sozialphobien, spezifische Phobien, das Posttraumatisches Stresssyndrom und Zwangsst�rungen z�hlen. In dieser Ausarbeitung sollen die verschiedenen Angstst�rungen hinsichtlich ihrer Definition, Symptomatik, ihrem Verlauf und Ursachen, wie auch den Behandlungsm�glichkeiten aufgezeigt werden.
