Karl Duncker (1903-1940), Schüler von Max Wertheimer und Wolfgang Köhler, gehört zur zweiten Generation der Berliner Schule der Gestaltpsychologie. Dennoch war die Person Karl Dunckers in der Psychologiegeschichtsschreibung bisher nur sporadisch und fast immer am Rand Gegenstand. Im Zentrum dieser vor allem auf bisher unzugänglichen Archivalien und Zeitzeugeninterviews basierenden biographischen Arbeit steht die Herausarbeitung des Wechselspiels von Wissenschaft, Politik und privatem Leben. Es wird nach persönlichen, weltanschaulichen, politischen und wissenschaftlichen Bedingungen für den letztlich mi glückten Anpassungsproze an die Umbruchsituation der drei iger Jahre des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts gesucht. Angesichts des frühen Todes von Karl Duncker wird vor allem von einer Lebensphase zu berichten sein, die in wissenschaftlichen Biographien sonst häufig unter Vorgeschichte recht zügig abgehandelt wird.

Der Autor: Sören Wendelborn, Jahrgang 1965, studierte Psychologie in Berlin. Er ist Stipendiat der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Psychologisches Denken und psychologische Praxis in wissenschaftshistorischer und interdisziplinärer Perspektive der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Arbeitsgebiete: Geschichte der Psychologie in Berlin, insbesondere des Berliner Psychologischen Instituts und der Angewandten Psychologie.
