Die Literatur zum Thema "Alexithymie" ist - seitdem dieser Begriff in die wissenschaftliche Diskussion eingefuhrt wurde - sehr umfangreich geworden und kaum noch uberschaubar. Auch in Ubersichtsartikeln zu diesem Thema wurde nur ein Bruchteil der vorliegenden Literatur gesichtet. Die vorlie- gende Arbeit stellt zum einen den Versuch dar, die Fulle empirischer Er- gebnisse deutsch- und englischsprachiger Publikationen zum Thema "Alexi- thymie" umfassend darzustellen und von einem methodenkritischen Standpunkt aus zu diskutieren. Zum anderen wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit der Ver- such unternommen, zentrale Aspekte des Alexithymiekonzepts, die bislang nicht oder unzureichend geklart sind, empirisch zu untersuchen. Denen, die mich bei meinem Vorhaben unterstutzt haben, mochte ich an die- ser Stelle danken. Die empirische untersuchung ware nicht moglich gewesen ohne die vielen namentlich Ungenannten, die sich bei der Vorbereitung und Durchfuhrung der Untersuchung als Probanden zur Verfugung stellten. Der Kontakt mit einem GroGteil der Untersuchungsteilnehmer wurde mir von Herrn Prof. Dr. Schmidt (Klinik fur Physikalische Medizin, Balneologie und Rheumatologie der Universitat Gie8en in Bad Nauheim) und seinen Mitarbei- tern - insbesondere von Frau Dr. Heuer - sowie von Herrn Dr. Brand (Klinik Doktor Brand, Konigstein/Taunus) und Mitarbeitern - insbesondere von Frau Ortwein - ermoglicht; ihr groGzugiges Entgegenkommen hat die empirische Untersuchung ganz wesentlich erleichtert. Die zeitokonomische Auswertung der Untersuchungsdaten war nur durch den Einsatz eines Computers moglich. Bei der Erstellung entsprechender Auswertungsprogramme war mir die Unter- stutzung durch Herrn cando psychol.
