Dit boek gaat over beeldende therapie bij cliënten met persoonli- heidsproblematiek. Het doel is om op verschillende niveaus en vanuit verschillende kaders een licht te werpen op dit thema. Het is niet de bedoeling een volledig beeld te bieden, aangezien het gebied van p- soonlijkheidsproblematiek erg breed is. In dit boek wordt gesproken over persoonlijkheidsproblematiek en niet van stoornis om de brede toepassing van haar inhoud duidelijk te maken. Mijn ervaring is dat het bij ernstige en langdurige problematiek vaak om persoonli- heidsstoornissen gaat. Bij de in dit boek beschreven doelgroep gaat het vooral om - in DSM-terminologie - persoonlijkheidsproble- tiek van cluster B en C en niet speciaal één stoornis daarbinnen. In het diagnostische vakgebied gaan er al langere tijd geluiden op om de classi?catie van de speci?eke persoonlijkheidsstoornissen te verlaten, omdat er vaak sprake is van overlap tussen deze gebieden. Het doet de realiteit meer recht om te spreken van clusters of om een meer dimensionele benadering te kiezen. In dit boek is onder andere een aantal reeds verschenen artikelen verwerkt en aangevuld met nieuwe informatie en productbeschr- vingen. Als beeldend therapeut heb ik in verschillende delen van de geestelijke gezondheidszorg - acute psychiatrie, langdurige zorg, - specialiseerde deeltijdprogramma's, poliklinische behandeling - met cliënten met persoonlijkheidsproblematiek gewerkt en deze ervar- gen heb ik in de loop van de tijd in verscheidene artikelen verwerkt die langzamerhand een rode draad vormden. Dit boek is de weerslag van deze rode draad.
