La obra recoge la experiencia con la Psicoterapia Breve Psicoanalítica (PBP) derivada de la aplicación de principios teóricos y técnicos psicoanalíticos en la asistencia pública, reivindicándole un espacio entre las psicoterapias psicoanalíticas. Está basada en una publicación anterior, surgida de la aplicación de la PBP durante varios años por parte de un equipo de salud mental; y en los seminarios teóricos y supervisión, impartidos por el autor durante nueve años a un grupo de psicoterapeutas. En toda psicoterapia subyace un modelo de la mente que determina su técnica. Ello se muestra al contrastar un caso de M. Balint con el modelo aquí sostenido, en la línea Freud-Klein-Bion. En esta obra se describen los elementos específicos de la PBP: focalización y limitación del tiempo; indicaciones, contraindicaciones, encuadre e intervenciones terapéuticas; análisis de las deserciones en las entrevistas diagnósticas y en el proceso psicoterapéutico -aspecto este al que se ha prestado poca atención hasta el momento y del que hay muy poco publicado. Se muestra también un amplio material con una descripción detallada del proceso terapéutico de siete casos. También se plantean las siguientes cuestiones: existe una indicación de la PBP?; importancia de la focalización y del tiempo; intervenciones terapéuticas prioritarias en PBP; existe alguna particularidad en el proceso psicoterapéutico de la PBP? Qué influencia ejerció la supervisión en los psicoterapeutas? About The Author

Antonio Pérez-Sánchez es médico, psiquiatra, psicoanalista didáctico y supervisor de la Sociedad Española de Psicoanálisis (de la Asociación Psicoanalítica Internacional). Fue presidente de la SEP desde 2008 a 2012. Durante años se dedicó a la asistencia pública en hospitales psiquiátricos y dirigió un Centro de Salud Mental en Barcelona. En la actualidad, trabaja en la práctica privada en psicoanálisis y psicoterapia. Es profesor del Instituto de Psicoanálisis de Barcelona, y del Núcleo Portugués de Psicoanálisis (Lisboa), también de la API. Ha escrito artículos sobre diversos aspectos psicológicos desde la perspectiva psicoanalítica: envidia, verdad psíquica, perdón y temporalidad; así como sobre técnica en psicoterapia y psicoanálisis. Es autor de los siguientes libros: Elementos de Psicoterapia Breve Psicoanalítica (1992); Prácticas Psicoterapéuticas. Psicoanálisis Aplicado a la Asistencia Pública (1996); Análisis Terminable. Estudio de la terminación del Proceso Psicoanalítico (1997); y Entrevista e Indicadores en Psicoterapia y Psicoanálisis (2006), traducido al inglés, Interview and Indicators in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, (Karnac Books, 2012), y al italiano (Astrolabio, en prensa).
