Prof. Dr. Gerhard Gründer, Psychiater und Psychotherapeut, ist Professor an der Universität Heidelberg. Er leitet die Abteilung für Molekulares Neuroimaging am Zentralinstitut für Seelische Gesundheit in Mannheim.

Er leitet die Abteilung für Molekulares Neuroimaging am Zentralinstitut für Seelische Gesundheit in Mannheim. Nach dem Studium der Medizin in Köln und der Ausbildung zum Facharzt für Psychiatrie an der Psychiatrischen Klinik der Universität Mainz schloss sich ein Forschungsaufenthalt im Department of Radiology der Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, an. Herr Gründer habilitierte sich in Mainz mit einem Thema zur Anwendung nuklearmedizinischer bildgebender Verfahren in der psychiatrischen Forschung. Von 2004 bis 2017 war er Professor für Experimentelle Neuropsychiatrie an der RWTH Aachen und stellvertretender Direktor der Klinik für Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Psychosomatik am Universitätsklinikum Aachen. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen vor allem die Neurobiologie psychischer Störungen sowie die molekulare und klinische Psychopharmakologie. Dabei bedient er sich funktioneller bildgebender Verfahren, insbesondere der Positronen-Emissions-Tomographie (PET).
