Hermann Lang I In einer fruhen, kaum bekannten Arbeit von 1890, betitelt "Psychische Behandlung (Seelenbehandlung)," definiert Freud diese' Seelenbehandlung als Behandlung seeli scher oder korperlicher Storungen mit Mitteln, die auf das Seelische des Menschen einwirken. "Ein solches Mittel," fiihrt Freud weiter aus, "ist vor allem das Wort, und Worte sind auch das wesentliche Handwerkszeug der Seelenbehandlung." "Der Laie," fahrt Freud fort, "wird es wohl schwer begreiflich finden, daB krankhafte Storungen des Leibes und der Seele durch, bloBe' Worte des Arztes beseitigt werden sollen. Er 3 wird meinen, man mute ihm zu, an Zauberei zu glauben" (1905, S.289). Auf die "Worte" als Wirkfaktoren psychoanalytischer Therapie war Freud bereits beim ersten Fall der Psychoanalyse iiberhaupt gestoBen. Ais in der Behandlung der Anna O. durch ein "zufalliges, unprovoziertes Aussprechen (der pathogenen Bedingungen) in der Abendhypnose eine Storung (Hydrophobie) verschwand, die schon Hinger bestanden hatte," erkannte die Patientin sofort die Bedeutung dieses Ereignisses und fuhr deshalb fort, dem behandelnden Arzt und Freund Freuds, Josef Breuer, der selbst von diesem Effekt iiberrascht worden war, samtliche Anllisse, bei denen ein bestimmtes Symptom aufgetreten war, zu erzahlen. StieB sie schlieBlich bis zur Situation des erstmaligen Auftretens vor, und hatte sie diese verbalisiert, war das Symptom behoben. So wurden die Lahmungen, die Sehstorungen, der qualende Husten, die krankhaften Erscheinungen der EB- und Trinkfunktion und schlieBlich auch die Sprachstorungen - Symptome, die sie zuvor geboten hatte - "wegerzahlt" (Breuer u. Freud 1895)."
