Es gab in der Kirchengeschichte immer wieder Situationen, in welchen die Gl�ubigen zeit- oder gebietsweise ohne Seelsorger waren. Zur Zeit des "Kulturkampfs" in Deutschland (1871 und 1878) waren viele katholische Gemeinden ihrer Seelsorger beraubt, die Bisch�fe mu ten oftmals ins Exil und von dort aus ihre Herde leiten. Es lassen sich f�r unsere Zeit gewisse Parallelen und Analogien herstellen, welche uns helfen k�nnen, mit unserer Situation besser zurechtzukommen. Aus diesem Anla entstand damals ein B�chlein, welches auf den Anweisungen des Bischofs von Paderborn, Martin Konrad, an seine Di�zesanen beruht. Das B�chlein ist vor allem deshalb eine unsch�tzbare Hilfe, weil es uns im wahrhaft kirchlichen Geist unterweist, wie wir mit unserer Notsituation umzugehen haben. Es belehrt uns, dass der Glaube das Wichtigste im christlichen Leben ist und, da wir um der hl. Messe und der Sakramente willen, gerade wegen ihres Wertes, keine Kompromisse oder Zugest�ndnisse machen d�rfen und wie wir das Fehlen der Sakramente notfalls anderweitig ersetzen k�nnen. Hier wird bis ins Detail beschrieben, wie wir eine Me andacht feiern, wie wir eine Taufe oder ein Begr�bnis vornehmen und wie wir einen Sterbenden begleiten sollen, wenn kein Priester da ist. Ein eigener Gebetsanhang erg�nzt und bereichert diesen praktischen Teil. Das Buch stellt einen unersetzlichen Schatz dar f�r alle in der Seelsorge Beauftragten und der in keinem katholischen Haushalt heute fehlen sollte.
