Deze familie Roelinck wordt voor het eerst vermeld in 1555 met Gijsbert Roelinck als burger van Zwolle. Deze Gijsbert zou in 1563 worden benoemd tot griffier van de staten van Overijssel. Zijn kleinzoon, Herman, kocht in 1622 de havezate Vechterweerd en noemde zich vanaf dat moment dan ook Roelinck tot Vechterweerd. Het lot van de havezate en die van het geslacht lijkt vanaf dat moment met elkaar verweven. De familie beleeft hoogtijdagen met het verwerven van bezittingen en het beoefenen van functies als griffier, secretaris van Overijssel en schepen en burgemeester van steden als Zwolle en Kampen. In de tussentijd woonden de familieleden op Huize Vechterweerd wat werd beschreven "als een zeer vermakelijk lusthuis" met stallen, dienstwoningen, boerenerven, landbouwgrond en bossen, ruime tuinen met boomgaarden met exquise vruchtbomen en fraaie en met smaak aangelegde wandeldreven. De bestuurlijke functies en de havezate gingen over van vader op zoon. Door het uitblijven van mannelijk nageslacht, en het vroegtijdig overlijden van de mannen die het geslacht vertegenwoordigden, verdween de naam van de familie Roelinck langzaam uit beeld. Met Vechterweerd liep het niet veel anders af. Na het uitsterven van het geslacht Roelinck in mannelijke lijn werd Vechterweerd door erfgenamen in 1844 te koop aangeboden en op afbraak verkocht. Het huis werd gesloopt, het landgoed werd verkaveld en de bomen gekapt totdat niets meer herinnerde aan de ooit zo statige havezate en het geslacht dat hier heeft gewoond.
