Ramana Maharshi spoke of 'Sharanagati', that he recommends every bhakta must adopt this attitude: “There is no means of safety for me except throwing myself at your feet, O Lord.” Sharanagati is to seek God as the ultimate means for liberation. It is a beautiful practise to let go one's ego, which is the biggest enemy in one's life. But, the very idea of surrender is the most infuriating concept for the ego. Divine wisdom leads to the purity of senses leading to be closer to one's own inner strength. The wisdom is gathered through all our sense faculties which is then transmitted to the intellect. Placing those sense organs before God is truest "Sharanagati". It is not that our body, mind and all our powers are being thrown at the disposal of some unseen name called, 'God'. True wisdom knocks at the door of the ego, reminding him, 'to reject is a habit', only then acceptance is born. You witness your own strength, your own faith that lives through without any resistance. That carefree and blissful life is what leads to liberation. That is ultimate surrender. From whom you seek "sharan" you become one with Him.
