Willow Juniper Rose had concluded early in life that she was freakishly different from every other human being on the planet. She'd simultaneously come to understand that while it was currently in vogue to promote and celebrate eccentricity, that sort of high-minded rhetoric did not apply to her. She'd consequently learned very quickly to hide her abilities and imitate her peers, which made the request for assistance from the F.B.I. an unexpected, unanticipated, unwelcome surprise.
But even more unsettling than being maneuvered into voluntarily working undercover, was finding herself attracted to the man she presumed was their prime suspect. It was almost more than a committed loner could reasonably endure.
