Mountain Moments
There are moments in life when the heart becomes crowded with noise. The noise may come from trouble, responsibility, grief, uncertainty, disappointment, fear, or the daily pressures of life. In those moments, the soul often longs for a higher place, a place where the voice of God can be heard more clearly and the heart can rest in His presence.
Mountain Moments was written as a biblical meditation journey for the born-again believer who desires to draw closer to God through prayer, stillness, scripture, and reflection. This book is not only about mountains as physical places. It is about the spiritual meaning of going higher in God.
Throughout Scripture, mountains often became sacred places of encounter. Moses went up the mountain and received instruction from God. Abraham went up the mountain in obedience and saw God reveal Himself as Provider. Elijah stood on Mount Carmel and saw the fire of the Lord fall. Later, Elijah came to Horeb, the mount of God, and heard the still small voice. Jesus went into the mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God. The disciples saw the glory of Jesus on a high mountain apart. John was carried away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and saw the holy city.
These were not ordinary moments. They were mountain moments.
A mountain moment is a place of separation, prayer, surrender, revelation, instruction, testing, transformation, and assignment. It is where the believer steps away from the noise of the valley and lifts the heart toward God. It is where burdens are laid before the Lord, faith is strengthened, obedience is tested, vision is clarified, and the soul is renewed.
This book is designed to help the reader slow down and meditate on the Word of God. Each chapter will focus on a biblical mountain experience and connect it to the life of the modern-day born-again believer. Each meditation will include KJV scripture, a mountain moment narrative, a spiritual lesson, a modern-day application, a
Mountain Moment Thought, three things accomplished through the mountain experience, three things associated with the mountain experience, and a prayerful reflection.
Biblical meditation is not emptying the mind. It is filling the heart and mind with God's Word. It is sitting with scripture long enough for truth to speak, correct, comfort, and strengthen the soul. Joshua 1:8 says:
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night..."Psalm 119:15 says:
"I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways."My prayer is that this book will help you lift your eyes above the valley and remember where your help comes from. May every meditation lead you closer to the Lord. May every scripture strengthen your faith. May every mountain moment remind you that God is still speaking, still leading, still strengthening, and still transforming His people.
Sometimes you have to go to the mountain.
Not to escape life.
But to meet God.
