Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Theologie - Praktische Theologie, Universität des Saarlandes, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wenn wir von der Zukunftsfähigkeit des Christentums sprechen, darf uns auch der Blick in dessen Vergangenheit nicht lästig erscheinen, denn immerzu wollen wir dabei seine Traditionen und deren Fortgang als unermesslich reichen Erfahrungsschatz erkennen. In ihm wurzelt der stetige Prozess der Überlieferung von Sitten und Gebräuchen unserer weisen Väter und Mütter. Manchmal tief verborgen, öfters auch unverkennbar mit dem lebendigen Beispiel Jesu verknüpft, erschlie en wir daraus jene Moral, die die innere Bekundung ästhetischer Werte der christlichen Kultur verkörpert. Immer wurden dem Bestand der christlichen Lebenspraxis schwere Prüfungen auferlegt, Prüfungen die in ihrer Frühgeschichte von Verfolgungen, im Mittelalter von weltlichen Verfehlungen und in der Moderne von politischen und gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen begleitet wurden. Während zahlreiche Konzilien zunächst erst einmal defnierten, welche Weltanschauungen für die römisch-katholische Kirche gelten sollte, fand sie sich in der Neuzeit zunehmends in einer Konkurrenzsituation innerhalb eines pluralistischen Konzerts der Weltanschauungen wieder. Gerade beim jüngsten Konzil wird ein neuer Anspruch deutlich, denn die "Institution Kirche" steigt vom "Hohen Ross" herab, welches von der Jahrhunderte währenden Säkularisierung bereits geschunden worden war, um sich nun auf gleicher Höhe mit ihren Mitgliedern zu versöhnen. Die Neuerungen des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils brachten die Kirche auf die Höhe der Zeit; man hatte "die Zeichen der Zeit"(Karl Rahner; Herbert Vorgrimmler: Kleines Konzilskompendium; Freiburg im Breisgau 41966 [S. 234])erkannt. Schwer voraussehbar erwies sich aber, eine Zukunft die von pulsierenden Prozesse der Liberalisierung in allen Gesellschaftsbereichen, des Turbo-Kapitalismus und die Globalisierung geprägt war.
