Students of manufacturing/production engineering should have a good knowledge of this subject which will be useful to them when they join the industries and start building up a career in engineering.

About The Author

Dr. M. Adithan, Professor Emeritus and Director, Academic Staff College at VIT University, Vellore, has Ph.D. from I.I.T. Madras. He was an UNESCO Fellow at Ohio State University, U.S.A., and has more than four decades of experience in teaching, research, training, and faculty development. He was a Visiting Professor at Brigham Young University, U.S.A., and at University of Technology, Malaysia. He has guided many teacher-researchers at I.I.T. Madras, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (N.I.T.T.T.R), Chandigarh, and V.I.T., Vellore. He has conducted many new and innovative Faculty Development Programmes for college faculty and has published many papers on Teacher Education, Training, and Research.
