About The Author

Dr. Debasish Kar graduated in Physiology (H) from Midnapore College, West Bengal. He has studied M.Sc. in Biotechnology at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar followed by M.Tech. in Biotechnology at the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata. Later he joined IIT Kharagpur to pursue Ph.D. in Biotechnology Dr. Kar has presented his research findings in one of his talks at an international conference, FEMS in the Netherlands. Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore. His primary research area includes molecular characterization of beta-lactamases that cause bacterial resistance against a broad spectrum antibiotic—a threat to global medicine. He has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kar has penned a number of books on CSIR-NET Life Science and DBT JRF Biotechnology. Replication of CSIR-NET Life Science is one of his very famous books in India. He has written Comprehensive Life Science—Volumes I and II for college and university students. In addition, he has also contributed a series of books on GATE Life Sciences, GATE Biotechnology. He is popularly known for his competitive exam books on GATE/NET/PhD entrances in the field of Life Science. He is the Life Member of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology, The Indian Science Congress Association, and Society of Biological Chemist (India). Recently, Dr. Kar is included in the reviewer board members of Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (Royal Society of Chemistry, London).
