Jonathan Tullis began his career in mathematics at the age of 24. When he was the age of 15, he dropped high school to work full time. When he was 18 years of age, he acquired his GED, and then began working as a bartender. From there, he eventually gravitated into retail cell phone sales during the peak of technology transition from a basic phone to a smart phone. This required extreme skills in explaining information to people uneducated on the technology, which helped to build his teaching skills before he started teaching. By the time Jonathan was 23, he realized he had ability for problem solving that was never brought to his attention in former schooling. This took on an epiphany that led him to dedicate his life to the sciences. He then quit his job, and began at a community college, starting with the most basic of maths. His original major was physics but the constant missing pieces of math foundation led him to seek a degree in math with hopes to come back to physics in graduate school. He did his associates of science at Richland College, and the proceeded to UT Dallas. In his senior year, he ran out of money to pay for the last few semesters of a double major in math/physics. This led him to begin a business in private tutoring, and online video lessons for upper division mathematics and physics courses designed to help the modern student and returning student.
