Viel- mehr stehen im MitteIpunkt der Betrachtungen die kauflich zu erwerbenden Me!5gerate. Die physikalischen Grundlagen ihrer Komponenten und die wichtigsten Me!5verfahren werden unter Verzicht auf alles nur noch histo- risch Interessante behandelt. So ist auch das Kapitel uber die photo- graphischen Verfahren bewu!5t kurz ausgefallen. Der Beschrankung in der Auswahl des Stoffes entsprechend wendet sich dieses Buch vor allem an diejenigen, die die Spektroskopie urn ihrer Anwendungen willen betreiben, also an Chemiker, Biologen und Mediziner. Auch den interessierten technischen Hilfskraften, die auf dies em SpeziaI- gebiet arbeiten, wtill es ein guter Helfer sein. Die Frage, bis zu welchem Grade die physikalischen Grundlagen als bekannt vorausgesetzt werden durfen, war nicht leicht zu beantworten. FUr das Verstandnis der in gro!5en Typen gedruckten Teile ist nur die Kenntnis der einfachsten Grund- tatsachen der Optik notwendig, wah rend in den in kIeinerem Schriftgrad gedruckten Abschnitten z. T. etwas weitergehende Kenntnisse vorausgesetzt werden. Die Spezialgebiete der SpektraIphotometrie und KoIorimetrie im sichtbaren Gebiet sowie der Fluorometrie und NepheIometrie gehoren nicht mehr zum Thema, da hieruber im deutschen Schrifttum brauchbare Zusammenfassun- gen existieren.
