S t e p han und anderen hervorragenden Fachieuten gegriindete Elektrotechnische Verein hat es ais eine seiner wichtigsten Aufgaben betrachtet, die Elektrotechniker tiber die neuesten wissen- schaftlichen Fortschritte Iaufend zu unterrichten. Diesem Zweck dienten neben den regelmaBigen Fachvortragen in den Vereim. - sitzungen auch die seit 1906 in jedem Winter veranstalteten Vortrags- reihen tiber bestimmte Gebiete von speziellem oder allgemeinem Interesse, wie z. B. die Physik der Isolierstoffe, Elektrowarme, Aus- gieichsvorgange, Schalltechnik, M a x well sche Theorie, Rundfunk- und Femsehtechnik, Mathematisc, he Methoden in der Elektrotechnik, Vektor-, Operatoren- und Matrizenrechnung, Wahrscheinlichkeiten und Schwankungen, partielle Differentialgleichungen, Atomphysik, das freie Elektron, Physik des Weltalls, Kemphysik und Moleklilbau. Diese Vortrage wurden von den ersten Fachleuten gehalten und fanden stets viel Anklang; einige Vortragsreihen hatten liber 1000 Zu- horer. Nach der Grlindung des AuBeninstituts an der Berliner Technischen Hochschule beteiligte sich dieses an der Veranstaltung der Vortrage; nach der Angliederung des Elektrotechnischen Vereins an den Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker trat dieser neben dem AuBeninstitut als Trager der Veranstaltungen auf. Die Vortrags- reihen wurden von einem gemeinsamen VortragsausschuB der beiden Stellen vorbereitet und betreut. Diesem VortragsausschuB und be- sonders seinem langjahrigen Leiter, dem klirzlich verstorbenen Herm Dr. -Ing. e. h. Car I T ret tin, schuldet die Fachwelt groBen Dank fUr die erfolgreiche Durchfiihrung der Vortragsreihen.
