SOHROTER bearbeiteten Abschnitt im HOUBEN-WEYL (Bd. 11/1) absieht - bisher. Die von BOHME in den Chemischen Berichten [88, I (1955)] verfaBt.e Zusammenstellung behandelt lediglich die Arbeiten C. MANNIOHS; die Dbersicht von BLIOKE (Org. Reactions Bd. I, S. 303ff.) verwerlet die bis zum Jahre 1942 bekannt gewordenen Mannich-Basen. Bei der Bedeutung, die Mannich-Reaktionen fur die Arzneimittel- synthese, fiir technische Zwecke und fur Fragen der theoretisch organi- schen Chemie besitzen, erschien es angezeigt, in zusammenfassender Dar- stellung einen Dberblick uber die auf diesem Gebiete bis zum Jahre 1958 erschienenen Arbeiten zu geben. Die vorliegende Monographie verfolgt in erster Linie den Zweck, die Vielgestaltigkeit der Reaktion, ihren breiten Anwendungsbereich, ins- besondere ihre Bedeutung fUr die Arzneimittelsynthese und der unter ihrem Einflull moglichen Alkaloidbiogenese kurz darzustellen. In der Zusammenstellung stehen praktische Ergebnisse im Vorder- grund. Das Buch wendet sich daher in erster Linie an den synthetisch arbeitenden Organiker. Das Gesamttatsachenmaterial ist in vier Hauptabschnitte aufgeteilt. 1m ersten Teil werden die C-Mannich-Basen nach dem chemischen Charakter ihrer CH-aciden Komponente behandelt. Das zweite Haupt- kapitel umfaBt die N-Mannich-Basen, wahrend im dritten Teil die wich. tigsten Umsetzungen mit Mannich-Basen beschrieben werden. 1m viertcn Abschnitt findet sich eine Zusammenstellung der bekanntesten Mannich.
