Die Veroffentlichungen im ersten Teil stellen Geschichtsbilder der GRAFENBURG an der Wupper und der adeligen Hauser MORSBROICH bei Leverkusen-Schlebusch, OPHOVEN bei Opladen und LANQUIT - auch Langfort genannt - bei Langenfeld dar; alles Schriftstiicke aus den rheinischen Archiven in Diisseldorf, Koblenz und Mirbach-Harff bei Bergheim. Fiir die Hilfe und Unterstiitzung, die ich bei der Suche und Forschung durch die Herren Leiter und Betreuer dieser Archive fand, bedanke ich mich herzlich. Ich hoffe, mit den vorliegenden dokumentarischen Aussagen zur bergi- schen Geschichte der Heimatforschung neue Impulse zu vermitteln, so daB auch das Geschichtsbild des Rhein-Wupper-Kreises griindlicher er- faBt und klarer herausgestellt werden kann. Weiter mochte ich hiermit der V olksbildung im allgemeinen und der Schularbeit im besonderen dienen. Ihnen will ich Mittel an die Hand geben, wodurch Sie in die Lage ver- setzt werden, yom Stoff her heimatgeschichtliche Erkenntnisse in an- schaulicher Form zu vermitteln.
