Cela a rendu n�cessaire d'�tudier les implications de la transmission par les graines d'Alternaria helianthi sur la qualit� des graines de tournesol et de mettre au point une m�thode appropri�e pour la d�tection de ce pathog�ne. Des �tudes sur la variation culturale, morphologique et mol�culaire d'isolats d'A. helianthi collect�s dans diff�rents endroits de l'Andhra Pradesh ont �galement �t� men�es. Des effets n�fastes significatifs d'A. helianthi sur les param�tres de qualit� des graines, � savoir la germination, la vigueur des graines, la teneur en humidit� et la teneur en huile, ont �galement �t� observ�s. Parmi les diff�rentes m�thodes de d�tection, le milieu d'extrait de feuilles de tournesol (SLEM) s'est r�v�l� le plus efficace pour d�tecter l'agent pathog�ne dans les �chantillons de graines infect�es. La variabilit� mol�culaire des isolats d'A. helianthi, �valu�e par analyse RAPD � l'aide de 43 amorces al�atoires, a r�v�l� des bandes RAPD distinctes pour les marqueurs OPM 16, OPC11 et OPBC 2. Ind�pendamment des districts et des g�notypes, les isolats pr�lev�s sur des �chantillons de graines de tournesol ne pr�sentent aucune corr�lation entre les caract�res culturels, morphologiques et mol�culaires �tudi�s.
